First Day of School, Last Weekend of Summer

What a crazy few days!!! Sorry to have been away so long, but my son seems to think that the last week of summer is all about having as many friends over as possible (complete with sleepovers and pool runs) to help him mourn the loss of his free time ;O)

He left on the big yellow taxi a few minutes ago, so I get a bit of MY free time back (pout, cause I'm really going to miss him, truth be told), except that I have a doctors appointment this morning.

Sooooo...stay tuned. I have last week's winner of the Spice gift set from RWA Nationals, and this weeks goodies for you to drool over. I'll be back online by the end of the day, and we'll start the party all over again!!!

See you then ;O)

    Anna,

This is my son's second week of school and I miss him! He started kindergarten and their day is long 7:15 am - 2:00 pm. He's having a tough time adjusting to the long day. I enjoy having more time to get things done, but I do miss him!

My nephew had his first day of first grade today. He was a little nervous because none of the kids from his kindergarten class are in his class this year, but I am sure he will be fine. He makes friends easily.

Pat: I will definitely be thinking of your Son-in-law.

Anna, My daughter had her first day of first grade last Thursday, so we are trying to adjust to the back-to-school schedule. We both really like her teacher, so I'm happy about that. I hope your doctor's appointment goes well.

Cherie, That is so exciting! Congratulations!

    Pat,
I will keep your son-in-law in my prayers, and hugs to you.

    Hugs, Zara

School doesn't start here in NC until around the 23rd or 24th. I have gotten past that. My grandsons start the 24th but that is at Camp Lejeune, NC military base school. They operate a lot different than public school. I will keep your son-in-law in my prayers, Pat. Hope everyone's Dr. appointments go well. I had mine today. I have to have knee replacement in a couple of months, so any prayers will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to new goodies. Hugs to all.

My kids go back to school on the 23rd. Like Anna;s son, mine think now that time is winding down they have to fit everything they haven't done this summer into one week.

    Hey buds!!

Finally back online. As you can see yesterday afternoon didn't happen. I have to run shoot pics of the new RWA prize, then I'll be good to go.

Robyn, keep us in the loop on those beautiful D-I-Ls and the grandbabies!!! How exciting!!

Oh, Cheri, a baby girl!!!! I always wanted one. I'm so excited for you. Let us know how things went.

Pat, your son is on my prayer list. Hope his eye surgery goes well and that the doctors do a brilliant job. Anything that touches our kids touches us so deeply. I was a nervous wreck for mine, and all he was doing was going back to school. He has ADHD, and transitions can be tough. Looks like we're off to a great start, though. He's a brilliant guy, we just have to work with his teachers to keep him challenged and focused.

Actually, that was the appointment--with the doctor who's been testing him the last few weeks. We're formally asking the school for accomodations this year (excusing him from busy work, test practice and review, and other things that are invitations for him to disengage from the teacher's work and run amuck). We're so blessed that we found this doctor. He's a successful PHD with adult ADD, and he's been amazingly insightful. We have our first meeting with my son's teacher Thursday, so here's hoping.

Everyone who thinks you're old because you're not doing the BTS, you're making me cling even harder. I was okay with him growing up until just recently, when it seems we've hit warp speed. Now, I can see the door to the little boy swinging shut, and I'm trying hard not to look back so long I miss the next good thing coming. It's just so hard--see, transitions are easy for me, either ;O)

Take care everyone--I'll be with you in just a few minutes...and I have a neat surprise, too!!

It is funny how school starts on different days in every state and city. My grandson started school on Aug. 9. Hope your dr. appointment goes ok.
