Final Day of the Holiday Party--Revel in the Bling!!

I'm loving all the support and wishing and dreaming in the comments. Keeps me going as I push through another ten pages of the Legally Yours draft today (one final excerpt below--hope you enjoy).

You're all amazing. Special. Brilliant, shining lights. We come from light. From belonging to something unbelievably beautiful. And we spend our entire lives working our way back to it. Mushy enough for you? Well, I believe it. Whatever your beliefs are, know that you're part of my light.

And Christmas is the perfect time of year to celebrate the light in our lives.

Light--bling--is all around in December. Everywhere you look. A gift for the eyes. And each time you look at it this year, I want you to think about the gifts inside of you. The party you bring to me and everyone you care about, just by showing up ;o)

You're perfect to all of us, just the way you are. See that when you gaze at the bling on every streetcorner and in your own home. See the light you bring to this world, cherish it and never let it go out.

Question of the day: what's your favorite Christmas decoration? Either a public one, like the tree in Rockerfeller Center, or one you parents or grandparents had, or one you've found and put out each season. One you gave your child, that you hope he remembers came from you one day when he's hanging it on his own tree.

And while you're enteraining us with your all your shiny, Christmas fancy, we need winners for yesterday's prizes!!

And they are:

Pat--the Guess tweed bag will be under your tree this Christmas ;o)

and

Toni--I have a $5 Border's gift certificate with your name on it!!

A few more prizes for our final day--the hobo bag everyone loved. And to another friend, I'll send a complete set of my "Daughter" series (The Unknown Daughter, The Runaway Daughter, and The Perfect Daughter), as soon as I receive my author copies of The Perfect Daughter. And one more Borders gift certificate will go to a final winner.

Wish I had something for everyone!!

Leave a comment between now and tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. I'll draw our final random winners and post them tomorrow night.

Thanks for making it a fabulous Holiday bash!!

Oh, and almost forgot the final excerpt from Legally Yours:

**************

"What was that?" Kate's ex-husband, neurosurgeon Bob Livingston, asked.

He was intentionally blocking her view of the lawyer's retreating back, instinctively shielding her the way he'd wanted to in their marriage. The way she'd always refused to let him. Robert had always wanted to be more to her than she could handle. To save her from things they'd barely even talked about.

It wasn't in her nature to be saved, and it wasn't in his to back off when someone needed help.

Thank God.

For the first time, as she peered around her ex to watch Stephen Creighton enter the elevator at the end of the hall, she was thankful for his coddling. Because there had been something in the lawyer's eyes, in his voice, that made her want to doubt what her own eyes were telling her. To believe that an abused little boy belonged with the man who'd most likely hurt him.

"That was nothing."

"You okay?" Robert rubbed a hand down the same place Creighton had her arm. His other hand held Creighton's card. "Who--"

"A lawyer for some legal aid center." She glanced back toward Dillon's closed door. "He's representing Manny Digarro."

"The father of the banged up little boy from the shelter?"

"Yeah. The police were notified by the ER attending, and we're running more tests to try and figure out exactly what's wrong. But he's banged up pretty badly, from more than a fall down the stairs, and there are too many signs of neglect to ignore."

"Then you're doing the right thing."

"Yeah."

Handsome lawyers with earnest expressions didn't change the truth. X-rays and broken bones didn't lie, no matter how much Dillon seemed to miss his father. And the truth was something Kate had promised herself to never rationalize away again, even when she wanted to believe some one else's promises more than what she saw with her own two eyes.

She took Creighton's business card from her ex, tore it in half and smiled. And she kept smiling, reassuring herself and Robert that she'd already put out of her mind how gentle the lawyer had been with her vulnerable patient. How honest his assurances had sounded.

But a smile didn't change the fact that she'd glanced at the address on the card as she ripped it in two. Or that she'd committed the name of Creighton's legal aid center to memory.

Damn easy-going Southern men. Their smiles could make you like their lies better than the truth.

Hi Anna! Thanks for the party and the excerpts. My favorite decorations have to be the ornaments my kids made and decorated. When they're little and making them you like them and thank them never realizing that in just a few years they won't be making you any more decorations because they'll be too busy with school, work and friends.

I hope everyone has a special holiday season.

My favorite decoration is an old elf decoration. The poor thing even has dirt on his face by now. Other decorations may have changed over the years, but that's the one decoration that is always sitting on some branch of the Christmas tree with his porridge kettle.

I can't wait for this book Anna!

My favorite decoration is the singing snowmen I got from Hallmark...they never fail to make me smile. We don't decorate much, but we always have those.

Linda, email me the picture of the buffet, and I'll put it out on the site tomorrow. In fact, if anyone else wants to send me a picture, too, I'll post as many as Blogspot will allow when I name the final winners!

Dancing snowmen and santas and crystal butterflies...can't wait to dig all my decorations out of the attic this weekend.

Of course, I have four cats--two of which are only a year old and like wrecking balls with tails. I think we'll have to go back to ornaments that don't break for a few years ;o)

My favorite ornaments are 33 1/2 years old.I live next door to the Cherokee Indian Reservation here in NC. My husband knew an elderly gentleman who did the most beautiful carving. As a way to celebrate the birth of our son, he had Mr. Bradley carve me a set of 6 figures. They are as beautiful today as they were then. They have a place of honor, right next to all the things my two children have made over the years, on my tree. I live alone now but the memories each ornament holds brings everyone home for the Holidays.Everyone have a Blessed Christmas and hugs to all.

One thing that I do love about the decorations are the stained glass ornaments that bring out the beauty and the light in the whole house at this time. Bells, flowers, sun and moon shapes. It enhances the memories.

    Congrats Pat and Toni!

I have an old ornament that was always on my parents tree. It has colored water in one part of it that bubbles when it heats up. You put on the string of lights.

As always, I enjoyed the excerpt!

Thank you for the Holiday Party and for being so generous!

Carol, I LOVE bubble lights. We don't have old, old ones. But we did find some reproductions in a specialty store a few years back. And I inherited my grandparent's ornaments. Have some of the ones with things inside that twirl, if you place them over a light (as the heat rises, the ornament moves).

    Sigh

Those sound lovely and neat Anna!

I am not familiar with bubble lights.

We have a few ornaments that are hand made glass ornaments - a very fragile candy cane, a tiny Christmas tree and a Santa Claus.

My favorite decoration is the Santa booties my Mom made to hang on the tree. She has since passed away so they are very special.

My treasured ornaments that I have saved for many years are ones that have sentimental value to me. They are the old style of globes that were created by artists where I grew up. Many have scenes and are artistic creations of the season and the holiday.

Every year we make a new ornament with our family picture. I like these ornaments because I can reflect on years past.
As for decorations, my husband and I decided to go over the top this year. We have three inflatables - my son loves the reindeer pulling santa out of the chimney. All our trees have green lighted trunks and white lighted branches. Colored lights are everywhere else. I know it looks tacky, but who cares, my son and the rest of the kids in the neighborhood love it!
Everyone have a happy holiday season!!!

My mom gave me special ornaments thru the years and those are the most special to me, especially the lenox one last year when I was first married.

Normally, I'm more of a Halloween person. I own more Halloween decorations then all other holidays combined. This year, I have a 2-year-old. He loves all the lights and decorations. For my birthday, he bought me a dancing singing snowman. It is a different experience with a child. He probably doesn't remember last year and all the presents and is not expecting them this year. (He is the first and only grandchild on my side of the family) He knows something exciting is coming and he is getting excited, too.

I can't wait to hang the baby's creations on the tree this year. Lopsided, gobbed with glitter and glue, unidentifiable and totally wonderful!

I'm also going to say my ornaments. I have 37 years of special memories from ones my two girls have made, gifts from friends and family, my mil's from overseas, and the 2 from my childhood, vacations, etc.

Anna I have 6 cats so my advice - get a real tree with short, prickly needles and hang some unbreakable ornaments at the bottom :)

    Congrats ladies!

My favorite Christmas decoration is our family christmas tree. Each year we build on it. We have ornaments that belonged to me as a child, dated ornaments from the kids first Christmas and our first christmas together, ornaments from vacation destinations, oranments the kids made etc. I had to upgrade Christmas trees last year and go to a nine foot which I need a stool to help decorate! :) It is something we all have fun with every year.

I'd have to say our whole Christmas tree. For some odd reason
it looks like it belongs in our living room. The room is naked with
    out it.

My favorite ornaments are the ones my kids have made for me. I also have a crystal angel that my great grandmother gave to me as a little girl. That one is very special because it makes me feel like a part of her is still with me.

I love the excerpt too by the way!

    Congratulations to all the winners!

An angel made in kindergarten. We did a Christmas pageant and we each had a speaking part, mine being "A is for Angel atop the Christmas tree" and our teacher gave us an ornament with our name on it to commemorate our part. My mom still has it and I look for it on her tree every year.
    Great excerpt, too. Thanks, Anna!

My favorite decorations are the ones that run through the middle of town. They put bells and angels on the street lights and that always makes it feel like Christmas to me.

I dont put too much around any longer as I am an older lady - a few things here and there.

We used to have a tree with colored lights that rotated. I really loved that.
